My Take

At 206 cm, Juancho Hernangomez was always going to live in the paint, but what interests me is the journey rather than the height. Getting drafted 15th by Denver in 2016 and lasting seven NBA seasons is no small feat, yet I find his second act more compelling: returning to Europe and actually winning the EuroLeague in 2024 with Panathinaikos. Plenty of players treat a move back across the Atlantic as a step down, but he turned it into a trophy and an All-EuroLeague nod. A Madrid kid coming home to win at the top of the continent has a satisfying full-circle quality to it.

He was selected by the Denver Nuggets with the 15th overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft and spent seven seasons in the NBA before returning to Europe. He is an All-EuroLeague Second Team selection and won the EuroLeague in 2024.
