My Take
Judith Hill has one of those careers I find quietly heartbreaking and inspiring at once. She was set to be Michael Jackson's duet partner on This Is It, only for the tour to end in tragedy, and she's sung behind Prince and others too. The documentary 20 Feet from Stardom captured exactly her dilemma: a powerhouse voice stuck just out of the spotlight. My take is that she's far too talented to stay a backing vocalist, and I respect that she's kept pushing her own material. I'm rooting for her to fully step forward.
