My Take
Kandi Burruss earns my deep respect for her range. Most people know her from Xscape or reality television, but the credit that floors me is her songwriting: she has writing credits on hits for Destiny's Child, Pink, and even Ariana Grande. Breaking through as a teenager and then quietly elevating other artists' records shows a rare versatility. Add acting and television to the mix and you have someone equally effective in the spotlight and behind the scenes. I gravitate toward people who deliver results no matter the role, and this Georgia-born craftswoman is exactly that.
