My Take
Ke Huy Quan's story moves me more than almost any comeback in modern Hollywood. He was adored as a child actor, then effectively shut out by an industry that offered no roles for Asian men, and instead of growing bitter he stayed close to filmmaking as a stunt coordinator and assistant director. That humility is what makes his Oscar feel earned twice over: once for the performance, and once for the twenty quiet years that preceded it. Watching him now, I see joy without cynicism and gratitude without false modesty. He is living proof that a career can be resurrected when patient talent finally meets a changing industry.
