Kelli O'Hara

Kelli O'Hara represents, to me, the ideal of the patient Broadway artist. Raised in Oklahoma and trained at Oklahoma City University, she built her reputation slowly, earning nomination after nomination before finally claiming the Tony for Best Actress in a Musical in 2015. That persistence is what I find most admirable. Her voice is good enough to carry her onto the opera stage, not just the musical theatre one, which says everything about her instrument. She is not a flashy, manufactured star but someone who earns trust role by role. I deeply respect that approach, and I would love to hear her sing live someday.
