The Tallest Man on Earth

Matsson, performing as The Tallest Man on Earth, hooked me with that weathered voice and a single guitar. Raised in Leksand and going solo in 2006, he has drawn endless Bob Dylan comparisons, yet to me he is very much his own creature. I love the irony of the stage name, a man billing himself as earth's tallest while making music this intimate and fragile. There is the dust of American folk in his sound, recorded at home with voice and guitar on a single track, and it warms me every time. His steady, uncompromising songcraft is exactly why I keep coming back.
