My Take
LaKeith Stanfield is one of those actors who makes you feel like you're watching something slightly dangerous — in the best possible way. He showed up fully formed in Short Term 12 back in 2013 and hasn't coasted once since. Get Out gave him one of the most haunting single scenes of that decade, Sorry to Bother You let him carry a whole surrealist fever dream on his shoulders, and his turn in Judas and the Black Messiah was so layered and quietly agonized it earned him an Oscar nomination that felt way overdue rather than surprising. What I love is that he doesn't chase blockbuster comfort — he gravitates toward work that's a little weird, a little risky, politically alive. Add in his music and poetry and you've got an artist who's clearly building something on his own terms, not Hollywood's.
