My Take
Larry Johnson is the kind of player I respect more the longer I think about him. Out of Tyler, Texas, he carried UNLV to a title, took Rookie of the Year and the Wooden Award, then gave New York one of the most electric moments of the era with his famous four-point play. Undersized for a power forward, he won with sheer physical will rather than length. The Space Jam cameo showed his charm, but the bruising, grind-it-out game is what defined him. I love athletes who outwork their measurements, and Johnson is that ethos made flesh.
