Lee Dong-gun

Lee Dong-gun is one of those Korean entertainers who quietly built a career that spans two very different worlds — acting and music — and made it look effortless. Born in 1980 in Gangnam, Seoul (yes, that Gangnam), and educated at Hanyang University, he came up during the early Korean Wave and carved out a real presence in Korean dramas and film alike. What I appreciate about him is the longevity — he didn't burn bright for one season and disappear. By his forties he had the kind of weathered, understated charisma that only comes from years of actual work, and that's rarer than it sounds in an industry obsessed with the next fresh face.
