My Take
Lee Soo-kyung strikes me as the real deal in Korean cinema. Becoming the youngest two-time winner of the Baeksang for Best Supporting Actress is no small feat, and it tells me she possesses a discipline that outshines mere charisma. Trained at Gyeonggi Arts High School and standing tall at 170 cm, she has the foundation of a serious actor. From her 2015 debut through Adamas and Love in the Big City, she keeps stealing scenes from the margins. To my mind, a supporting actor who can quietly outshine the leads is the most formidable kind. I expect far bigger roles ahead.
