Lenny Clarke

Lenny Clarke turned what most performers would sand down into his signature. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he leaned all the way into his thick Boston accent instead of softening it, and that refusal to assimilate is exactly why he's so watchable. As Uncle Teddy on Rescue Me he embodied a whole New England temperament in a few gruff lines. A UMass Boston grad, he's the sort of comic who carries the smell of his hometown into every role. I trust unpolished laughs like his, because they come from an unpolished, lived-in life.
