Lin Chi-ling

Lin Chi-ling is genuinely one of those rare talents who managed to be both an iconic supermodel and a credible actress without feeling like she was stretching herself thin. Born in Taipei and educated at the University of Toronto, she brought a sophistication to the Taiwanese entertainment scene that felt refreshingly worldly. She became one of Asia's most recognized faces through major brand campaigns and film roles — her appearance in Red Cliff opposite Tony Leung is the kind of thing that reminds you she could hold her own against serious dramatic actors. What I find most compelling about her is the longevity: still winning Asia's Most Influential honors well into the 2020s, which speaks to a public image that was built on genuine grace rather than manufactured hype.
