Linda Blair

Linda Blair gave one of the most fearless child performances in cinema history as Regan in The Exorcist, earning a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination before she was old enough to drive. That's astonishing, and also, I think, a quiet tragedy. A role that immense can swallow a career whole, and Blair spent years working in its shadow, even collecting a Razzie along the way. But I find her later chapter more compelling than the horror legend: this St. Louis native channeled her energy into animal rights activism. Surviving early peak fame with grace is its own kind of strength, and that's what I respect.
