My Take

Loïc Badé is exactly the kind of defender I enjoy watching develop. A French centre-back born in 2000, he's reached the level where he plays in the Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen and has broken into the France national team, which is no small thing given how deep that squad runs in defenders. The 2024 Knight of the National Order of Merit caught my eye too, since that's a state honor that usually points to a moment bigger than club football.
