Loreena McKennitt

Loreena McKennitt makes the kind of music I reach for when the day goes quiet. Born in Morden, Manitoba, she fused Celtic roots with Middle Eastern color into a world music all her own, carried by that clear, luminous soprano. Selling over sixteen million records and earning the Order of Canada without ever chasing trends tells you everything about her independence. I love that she chose depth over flash, building an atmospheric world you sink into rather than dance to. Hers is music for solitude and reflection, and for listeners like me that makes her a genuine treasure.
