My Take

Luis Abram is the kind of player I find easy to root for. Centre-backs rarely get the headlines, but at 184 cm he is exactly the calm, physical presence a defence is built around, and earning a steady place with the Peru national team is no small thing for a man still in his prime. South American defending has a particular craft to it, equal parts intelligence and aggression, and I suspect Abram belongs to that tradition. There is also something grounded about him still running his own social accounts. I value the unglamorous, dependable work he does far more than the goals everyone else celebrates.
