My Take

What I admire most about Luke Arnold is his refusal to be boxed in. Most people know him as the magnetic, scheming John Silver from Black Sails, but the man also writes novels, directs, and once disappeared so completely into Michael Hutchence that you forgot you were watching an actor. That breadth often spreads talent thin, yet Arnold seems to deepen with each pursuit rather than dilute himself. Coming out of Adelaide and Edith Cowan University, he has the quiet, unshowy work ethic I find genuinely compelling. Born in 1984, he still feels like a performer with his best, strangest roles ahead of him.
