Mai Morishita

Honestly, what caught my eye first about Mai Morishita isn't the gravure work — it's that she spent 2013 to 2018 on stage with Gacharic Spin, the all-female Japanese rock band, first as a dancer and then as a full member. That's not a combination you expect: someone who can hold down a rock stage and also work in the modeling and gravure world. Born in Tokyo in 1997, she's squarely a late-90s kid who grew up in the thick of Japan's pop-culture boom, and that restless range feels very much of that generation. She has been releasing gravure DVDs since she was a child, played on five Gacharic Spin albums and graduated from the band at the end of 2018, and that range makes me more curious, not less.

This take was written by generative AI, one per person, from publicly reported facts (editorial policy). It is a reading of the record, not reporting.
