My Take

Maanayata Dutt interests me less as a former actress than as an executive. Born in Mumbai in 1979, once known mainly for an item number in Gangaajal, she now runs Sanjay Dutt Productions as CEO. That pivot, from being lit by the spotlight to controlling who else gets lit, is the most compelling part of her story. Marrying a Bollywood icon could have made her a footnote; instead she took the reins of the family business. I admire people who trade visible glamour for operational power, and she clearly has the spine for the latter.
