My Take
Martin Parr is, to me, one of the great humanists disguised as a satirist. His saturated, almost garish images of British seaside resorts, supermarket aisles and cheap souvenirs could read as mockery, but I always sense affection underneath. What I admire most is that even after the Erich Salomon Prize and a CBE, he never abandoned the unglamorous, plastic-bright corners of ordinary life. He turned consumerism and class into a comedy we all recognize ourselves in. With his passing in 2025, photography lost a rare eye that found dignity in the absurd, and his color will keep teaching us how to look.
