Matt Cartwright

Matt Cartwright reads, to me, as a lawyer who brought rigor into politics. Born in Erie, Pennsylvania and trained at law school, he represented a sprawling northeastern Pennsylvania district anchored by Scranton and Wilkes-Barre from 2013 to 2025 as a Democrat. I tend to trust politicians who came up through the law; they argue cleanly and build their cases methodically. What I value most is his apparent commitment to his region rather than the national spotlight. Representatives who dig in and serve a specific place, year after year, are the unglamorous backbone of a functioning democracy, and that earns my respect.
