My Take
Matthew Fox is, for me, inseparable from Jack Shephard, the tormented reluctant leader at the heart of Lost. He carried that maddening, mythic island with a clenched intensity that anchored an enormous ensemble, and the Screen Actors Guild ensemble award feels earned in that light. There is something compelling about an actor who came up through Columbia University and modelling yet chose roles defined by inner conflict rather than glamour. His Cancerian emotional depth seemed to feed that brooding screen presence. Though he has drifted from the spotlight, in my memory he remains the face of one of television's defining dramas.
