My Take

What grabs me about Maud Adams is that she's the only person to play two different Bond girls, first in The Man with the Golden Gun and then headlining Octopussy nearly a decade later. That's a rare distinction in a franchise that usually treats its leading women as one-and-done. Coming out of Luleå in northern Sweden and breaking through as a model before acting, she carved out a place in 1970s and 1980s Hollywood that few European newcomers managed. I find it telling that the role she's most remembered for is one where she got top billing rather than playing opposite the spy.
