My Take

Burkholder belongs to that delicate club of child actors who actually grow into the work, which is why I root for him. As Max Braverman on Parenthood, he handled material that asked real emotional precision from a kid, and that's not nothing. Branching into voice work, horror with The Purge, and now young John Bennett in the Ted series shows a willingness to stretch rather than coast on early fame. What I appreciate is the lack of flash; he seems more interested in range than in being a headline. The transition from child star to durable working actor is brutally rare, and he looks like he's quietly making it.
