My Take
Megalyn Echikunwoke has the kind of steady, dependable presence that I think holds productions together. Born in Spokane, raised in the Navajo Nation, discovered at fourteen in an arts-academy theater production and working professionally by fifteen, she built a career across television, film, voice work and now directing without ever chasing easy fame. What draws me to her is that quiet persistence, carving out space in Hollywood while honoring her Nigerian-American roots. She is not the loudest name in any cast, but she is often the most convincing. I am especially curious to see where her move behind the camera takes her, because performers with that range usually make thoughtful directors.
