Megan Smith

Megan Smith is the kind of figure I find genuinely inspiring. An MIT-trained engineer from Buffalo who rose to become the third Chief Technology Officer of the United States under President Obama, she sat at the rare intersection of deep technical skill and real national influence. What impresses me is not just the title but the mission behind it: using technology in service of the public, not merely the market. Women reaching that summit in engineering and policy remain too few, which makes her trajectory matter all the more. I admire people who treat innovation as a civic responsibility, and Smith strikes me as exactly that.
