My Take
Meghan Trainor strikes me as one of pop's great craftspeople, and I mean that as the highest compliment. Before the world heard All About That Bass, she had already trained herself as a writer and producer, and that foundation shows: her hooks are built like clockwork, all doo-wop bounce and immaculate vocal stacking. What I respect most is her durability. Best New Artist Grammys can be a curse, yet nearly a decade later she engineered a genuine second wind with Made You Look. She writes, produces, and performs her own material with a cheerfulness that hides serious technical skill — the Berklee discipline underneath the bubblegum is what keeps me listening.
