My Take

Carter-Williams is one of those players whose Rookie of the Year season set a bar he never quite cleared again, and that makes him fascinating to me. That 2013-14 campaign with the 76ers showed everything tantalizing about his game: a 6'6" point guard who could fill a stat sheet, rack up steals, and run the floor. The shaky jumper haunted him, though, and he bounced around the league as a defensive-minded role player. I respect how he reinvented himself as a connector and stopper rather than chasing the lead-guard role that never fully fit. A genuine cautionary-tale-meets-survivor story.

A point guard who played college basketball for Syracuse University, he was selected 11th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2013 NBA draft. He won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award in 2014 and has since played for several NBA teams.
