Michael Socha

Socha emerged from Shane Meadows' This Is England, and that raw authenticity is the core of his appeal. He plays bruised, funny, fully human characters rather than polished leading men, which I find far more watchable. His werewolf turn in Being Human still sticks with me. Coming out of Derby and climbing on raw talent rather than connections, he carries the kind of grounded credibility that British social-realist drama lives on. I value actors who can hold both damage and warmth in the same scene, and Socha does it instinctively.
