My Take
Michael Zegen has a knack for landing in genuinely great television, from Rescue Me to Boardwalk Empire to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. That track record is no accident; casting directors clearly trust him to elevate ensembles rather than dominate them. His turn as Joel in Maisel stood out to me for making a flawed, frustrating husband oddly sympathetic, a tricky balance many actors fumble. Coming out of Glen Rock, New Jersey, and Skidmore College, he reads as a grounded, well-trained craftsman. I have a soft spot for dependable supporting players who quietly make prestige dramas work, and Zegen is exactly that kind of asset.
