My Take
Michaela Watkins is, to my mind, an underrated comic talent. Raised in Syracuse and sharpened at LA's legendary Groundlings, she earned a featured spot on Saturday Night Live's 34th season, and even a brief SNL run signals serious improvisational chops. She is also a writer, not just a performer, and moves easily between comedy and film. I tend to value exactly this kind of dependable character player: the actor who sharpens every scene they enter rather than demanding the spotlight. An industry that keeps grounded, genuinely skilled comedians like her working at the front line is a healthier one, and she has my quiet respect.
