Miki Murai

Miki Murai works as an actor, a voice actor and a television personality, three lanes at once. Born in Kyoto and raised in Osaka, she made her acting debut in an NHK drama in 2002 while still at Waseda, then became a quiz-show fixture: runner-up in a celebrity kanji championship, holder of the top-level kanji proficiency certificate, and leader of the rail team on a long-running travel-race show. But there are two kinds of career in Japanese entertainment, the one defined by one unforgettable part and the one defined by simply being on set, reliably, for years on end. The second is harder and gets almost no credit for it.
