My Take
The name Miyū Yamashita sounds like it belongs to an actress or pop idol, so when you find out she's a pro wrestler — and not just any wrestler, but the absolute ace of Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling — it genuinely stops you in your tracks. Born in Fukuoka in 1995, she moved to Tokyo as a teenager to train and debuted in 2013, and she's been the face of the promotion ever since. Four-time Princess of Princess Champion with over a thousand days of combined reign time, and a karate-grounded striking style that earned her the nickname "Pink Striker." She's also crossed over to AEW and Ring of Honor, which tells you everything about the kind of respect she commands outside Japan. There's something quietly compelling about a woman who looks that composed stepping into a ring and throwing kicks with that kind of precision. She's the real thing.
