Mohit Chauhan

Mohit Chauhan has a voice that carries the warm dusk of the subcontinent, and I find it quietly irresistible. Emerging from the band Silk Route before becoming a celebrated Bollywood playback singer, he won the Filmfare Best Male Playback Singer award twice over. Hailing from Nahan in Himachal Pradesh and a flautist himself, he clearly understands melody as something breathed rather than merely sung. Lending an unseen voice to characters on screen is humble work that secretly holds a film's soul. I have a deep affection for vocalists who shine from behind the scenes.
