Nadia Comăneci

Nadia Comăneci owns one of sport's truly mythic moments: Montreal 1976, age fourteen, the first perfect 10.0 in Olympic gymnastics history, on a scoreboard that literally could not display the number and showed 1.00 instead. And it was not a fluke; she racked up multiple tens en route to three golds. I find it astonishing that such precision emerged from a small town like Onești in Romania. What stays with me is how completely she redefined what was possible, then earned lasting respect long after, from the Gymnastics Hall of Fame to BBC 100 Women. If anyone embodies the word perfect, it is her.
