My Take
I'll be honest, the first thing that got me about Nao Ishikawa is the name thing — she's from Ishikawa Prefecture, and her name is Ishikawa. That kind of cosmic symmetry is either destiny or the universe having a laugh, and either way I respect it. Pro wrestling is grueling, unglamorous work built on discipline and sheer grit, and there's something quietly compelling about a woman from a prefecture on the Sea of Japan coast stepping into the ring and doing exactly that. I don't have a full picture of her record yet, but the outline alone — hometown pride literally in her name and a sport that demands everything you've got — makes me want to follow this story a lot more closely.
