Naoki Tanaka

I have a real soft spot for this guy. He came up as the boke, the funny man, of the comedy duo Cocorico, and there's something I love about a comedian whose whole appeal isn't just landing the joke. Born in 1971, he's got that grounded, unhurried 70s-kid steadiness about him, and at 181cm he could easily lean on being the imposing one, but he never does. What gets me is the range: stand-up, acting, voice work, all handled without fuss. And honestly the thing that wins me over is his obvious love of animals and living creatures, which seems to leak into the work he picks. You can just tell there's a warm, decent person sitting underneath all the noise. He reads less like a celebrity and more like the reliable, big-hearted uncle you'd actually want around.
