Nik Dodani

I quietly root for Nik Dodani. His turn as Zahid in Atypical put him on the map, but what interests me more is that he writes and does comedy too, not just acting. Performers who can author their own jokes tend to control their careers in a way pure actors cannot. Born in 1993 and a Dallas native with an Occidental education, he reads as sharp and self-aware. He also represents a generation of South Asian American actors carving out real space in Hollywood, and that makes me curious to see what he chooses next.
