Oliver Wakeman

Oliver Wakeman carries a famous surname, and I respect that he never coasted on it. Stepping into the keyboard chair in Yes that his father Rick once held, and being the first band member born after Yes formed, is a quietly heavy thing to do. The easy path would have been imitation; instead he wrote and played as himself. That balance of reverence and independence is what draws me to him. I find performers who honor a legacy while insisting on their own voice more compelling than either rebels or copies, and Wakeman lands squarely in that rarer middle.
