My Take

Ledroit is, to my eye, one of the most striking visual stylists in French comics. His work on the Black Moon Chronicles and Requiem Chevalier Vampire shows an obsessive, ornate darkness that few illustrators can sustain without tipping into excess. What impresses me is the density of his linework and the lushness of his color, every panel feels like a painted reliquary. His crossover into game art for Might and Magic only confirms the range. I respect artists who build entire gothic universes you can almost step into, and Ledroit clearly does. He is a craftsman of atmosphere, and I find his world intoxicating.
