Yutaro

I kind of love that Yutaro just goes by the one name, no surname, no fuss, like he doesn't need the extra branding to make an impression. Born in 1998 and signed to Asobi System, he comes straight out of that Harajuku world, and you can feel it in his whole vibe: soft, a little androgynous, effortlessly current in a way that brands keep reaching for. He works as both a model and an actor, and his route in was unusual: a Hiroshima kid who went to work for an Osaka clothing shop and was stopped by a television crew on Takeshita Street in 2016. There's something quietly confident about a guy who lets the photos and the work do the talking instead of narrating his own myth. By his mid-twenties he hits that sweet spot of momentum and ease, and I'd bet he just keeps photographing like a dream.
