My Take
Patrick Ewing is one of those players who defined an entire franchise — for nearly two decades, he was the New York Knicks, full stop. Growing up in Kingston, Jamaica before eventually becoming a Georgetown University legend under John Thompson, this guy's path to NBA greatness was genuinely cinematic. He was a force of nature at center: powerful post moves, reliable mid-range jumper, and a defensive presence that made opposing big men think twice. It's a little heartbreaking that rings eluded him despite some deep playoff runs in the '90s, but honestly, his legacy doesn't need a championship — the guy was a perennial All-Star, NBA Rookie of the Year, and one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA history. Seeing him stay connected to the game as a coach and Knicks ambassador shows he never really left the sport that made him an icon.
