My Take
What draws me to Paul Johansson is his refusal to stay in one lane. Most people know him as the deliciously villainous Dan Scott on One Tree Hill, but I find the actor-director-screenwriter combination far more telling. Directing the Atlas Shrugged adaptation was a polarizing, almost stubbornly personal move, and I respect creators who chase their convictions even when the reception is mixed. There's a quiet seriousness beneath the charismatic-bad-guy exterior, the kind of craftsman who picks up a Daytime Emmy and then quietly disappears behind the camera. I keep an eye on people who build, not just perform.
