My Take
What grabs me about Talankin is the improbability of his story. A schoolteacher and videographer in the industrial town of Karabash, born in the very year the Soviet Union collapsed, ended up co-directing and narrating an anti-war documentary aimed squarely at the system around him. That is not the polished bravery of a career filmmaker; it is the raw courage of an ordinary insider who decided to point his camera at the truth. I find his outsider perspective on patriotic schooling far more credible than any staged exposé, and the title Mr Nobody Against Putin captures the whole quiet defiance perfectly. I deeply respect it.
