Pedro de la Rosa

Pedro de la Rosa fascinates me precisely because his Formula One numbers never told the whole story. The detail I keep returning to is his 1997 double in Japan, winning both Formula Nippon and the All-Japan GT Championship in a single season. That is the mark of a driver who could adapt to anything, on any continent. His long F1 tenure from 1999 to 2012 made him a respected technical voice rather than a headline-grabber, and his move into broadcasting feels natural for someone who clearly understands the machinery so deeply. I have a soft spot for racers who win through intelligence and persistence rather than spectacle.
