My Take
Pete Docter strikes me as the conscience of modern animation. Monsters Inc., Up, Inside Out and Soul all wear a kids-movie disguise while quietly delivering letters to adults about loss, emotion and what makes a life worth living. Being a record three-time Best Animated Feature winner is impressive, but what moves me is that he keeps reaching for genuinely hard themes instead of safe spectacle. Even after becoming Pixar's chief creative officer in 2018, he seems to keep a storyteller's heart on the floor. I deeply respect filmmakers who hold onto that humility while carrying that much responsibility.
