Pio Marmaï

Pio Marmaï is one of those French actors who feels effortlessly alive on screen, and I find his trajectory genuinely satisfying. More than twenty films since 2008, a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2015, and now a Netflix lead in Néro the Assassin: this is a career built on steady, unglamorous craft rather than overnight hype. What draws me to him is the impression of warmth and slight unruliness he brings, the sense that a scene could tip in any direction. I suspect his best, most lived-in work is still ahead, and I'll be watching.
