Porl Thompson

Porl Thompson, now Pearl Thompson, will always be tied to the Cure for me, but the detail I find most revealing is the move into visual art after leaving the band. Plenty of musicians dabble; far fewer build a serious second career as artists. To me that signals a mind wired for color and form, whether the medium is a guitar or a canvas. His playing always carried a painterly, atmospheric quality, so the transition feels inevitable in hindsight. I admire creators who refuse to be boxed into one discipline and follow their aesthetic wherever it leads. He's the real, uncompromising kind of artist.
