My Take
What draws me to Rachel Shenton is that she refuses to stay in one lane. Born in Stoke-on-Trent in 1987, she earned her stripes acting in Hollyoaks and later All Creatures Great and Small, but her defining moment was winning the 2018 Academy Award for a short film she wrote about deafness. Acting is one thing; building the story yourself and carrying a cause to the world stage is another entirely. I have endless time for performers who have something to say, not just the craft to say it. Shenton clearly does, and I suspect her best chapters are still ahead.
