My Take
Rajkumar Hirani is, to me, the conscience of mainstream Hindi cinema. A former editor, he has a storyteller's sense of rhythm that makes his films feel effortless even as they smuggle in serious questions about education, faith and social hypocrisy. The trick he pulls off, four National Film Awards and eleven Filmfare wins deep, is making message-driven cinema that audiences genuinely love rather than tolerate. Plenty of directors can lecture; few can make you laugh, cry and reconsider your assumptions in the same scene. That blend of humour and emotional intelligence is rare, and it's why I'll watch anything he makes.
